Abyan – Special Report
In an atmosphere of great joy and festive celebration, the building of Naji School and two classrooms at Aboud School were inaugurated in Lawdar District, with support and funding from the Yemen Humanitarian Fund and implementation by Mayar Foundation for Development. The inauguration ceremony was attended by several local figures, including government officials, civil society representatives, and parents.
Through this project, the previously incomplete building of Naji School was renovated, rehabilitated, and fully finished. Additionally, two new classrooms were added to Aboud School in Lawdar District, Abyan Governorate.
This initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve the educational infrastructure in Abyan Governorate, where the education sector faces numerous challenges that have affected the quality of education. The project aims to provide a conducive learning environment for students and encourage them to return to school.
During the ceremony, Mr. Ayman Al-Ahdal, President of Mayar Foundation for Development, stated that this project represents a significant turning point for education in the area. He emphasized the importance of cooperation between governmental bodies and civil society to ensure sustainable development. He also affirmed that Mayar will continue to support the education sector as much as possible and called on everyone to safeguard these public facilities. He expressed his appreciation to all who contributed to the project’s success, noting that it will help raise the level of education and enhance students’ ability to learn in a healthy and comfortable environment.
The Director of Education in the district also expressed his gratitude to the Yemen Humanitarian Fund and Mayar Foundation for their efforts in supporting education. He noted that such projects contribute to building a better future for children in Abyan. He spoke about the various activities carried out by Mayar Foundation for Development, including teacher training, distribution of school bags to students, provision of incentives to volunteer teachers, and student awareness sessions in several health-related areas.
The inauguration featured remarkable celebrations organized by both schools, showcasing traditional folklore through theater, storytelling, and performances that were well received by all attendees. The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates of appreciation by the Lawdar local authority and the Education Department to Mayar Foundation for Development, educational and social figures, and parent councils who contributed to this achievement.
